What does a “domain” and “upstream” mean?
A domain is the custom domain where your content is served (for example, app.customer.com). An upstream is the source URL that provides the content (for example, customer.saas.com). Each connected domain maps to one upstream.
Is SSL included in all plans?
Yes. Automatic SSL provisioning and renewal is included in all plans. Certificates are issued only after DNS verification is completed.
Does hostgrid modify my website content?
No. hostgrid does not modify or remove branding from your upstream provider. It only handles domain connection, DNS verification, and SSL. Any platform-level branding or limitations remain controlled by that platform.
Is there a free trial?
Yes. The Starter plan includes a 90-day free trial. After the trial ends, upgrading to a paid plan is handled via Stripe integration (currently in early access).
Can I upgrade my plan later?
Yes. You can upgrade to a higher plan if you need more domains or upstreams. Additional domains require moving to the appropriate tier.
What does “fair-use bandwidth” mean?
All plans include fair-use bandwidth suitable for personal projects, indie apps, and small SaaS usage. If your usage grows significantly, you may be asked to upgrade to a higher tier.
Is the API available to everyone?
API access is currently in early access and available by request. It is designed for SaaS platforms managing 100+ domains programmatically.
How does billing work for SaaS and API plans?
API Starter plan starts at $20/month for 100+ domains. Scale and Enterprise tiers are usage-based or custom priced depending on domain volume and requirements.
Does this work with any platform?
Yes. Hostgrid works across platforms because it operates at the domain and SSL layer. As long as you have an accessible upstream URL, you can connect a custom domain to it.
